Scarlatti: Sonata in C L.104/Kk159
Beethoven: Sonata in C nr. 21 op. 53 ‘Waldstein’
Kuhlau: Sonata in D minor op. 5a
Liszt: Les jeux d’eaux á la Ville d’Este S163/4
Just as I love travelling to different countries, I love to immerse myself in different worlds of various composers. It is not always so easy to explain the world of a composer, though each composer brings associations, which I would like to share with the audience.
The composer Scarlatti brings to mind Italian art, language, people, opera and virtuosity in connection with his pieces. With Beethoven it’s Germany, folk songs, force of nature, a higher power, destiny, and with Kuhlau it’s Denmark, the Royal House and family, Danish landscapes.
And Liszt fills me in life, travel, inspiration, love, and imagination, all through his music.
